Just how did I wind up in this little “niche” of the jewelry business? Well, like many of you, I have suffered the loss of several four legged best friends. My most recent losses hit me very hard. My Dalmatian, Peluso - my best friend of almost 15 years was in failing health when I finally made the decision to help him out of this life and into the next.
My 17 year old cat, Pandora, never really was the same after Peluso was gone. Shortly after his passing, she herself became ill and I again had to make a painful decision. While I consider myself lucky to have been able to keep them both happy and comfortable at home until the end of their lives, it was still an indescribable loss. This loss left me with a huge hole in both my life and my heart.
I had started the search to find something that would both commemorate Pelusos’ life and allow me to keep him close even in death several months before. I saw a lot of beautiful pieces, but none were “just right” for remembering his precious life.
Finally, when I had just about given up, I was lucky enough to find a terrific artist who was happy to customize some work for me. Pandora falling ill was totally unexpected; she had been racing around like a kitten just days before! I decided to also design a piece myself with her ashes incorporated. Doing so brought me such a feeling of comfort that I decided then and there to try to do the same for others. So it is through this uplifting experience and in celebration of my wonderful “P”s lives that I have chosen to design my pieces. I hope they can bring to you all that they have brought to me.
